The Host by Stephenie Meyer

Back Cover: Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy that takes over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. But Wanderer, the invading "soul" who occupies Melanie's body, finds its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. As Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who has avoided invasion and lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she's never met. Soon Wanderer and Melanie- reluctant allies- set off to search for the man they both love. Featuring one of the most unusual love triangles in literature, The Host is a riveting and unforgettable novel about the persistence of love and the essence of what it means to be human.

This book was excellent. I have been wanting to read it for a while, and I finally bought it! It was really interesting how this love triangle worked since Melanie was there but so was Wanda or the Wanderer, controlling her body and everything and how at first she was just treated so crapply and confused since she didn't know much about our world and has hardly been living here. I really liked that though since it's different and unique. While I was reading it I did kind of got tired of being in the caves so long and then when they went out and had to get the medicine for Jaime I was glad they finally went outside the cave and did stuff cuz I didn't want everything to happen in there! Then they went on raids with Wanda and found the Seeker and it was so sad at the end how she wanted to sacrifice herself for Melanie but thank goodness they found her another body. I knew there had to be a happy ending haha! A weird thing too was like the other planets like the spiders and dolphins and bears, but it was creative that's for sure. And I saw in the back from the questionaire how there's gonna be a movie? The book was published in 2008 so I have no idea when the movie would come out but I'd def want to go see that! And I also loved that I got the copy with the bonus chapter in it to see what happened to Melanie after Wanda left her body since the whole book is from Wanda's point of view, she couldn't put that in the book. But overall I liked the book a lot and it actually I think took me longer to read than Roots! But hey loved it, but only have a few more books that are mine left then I gotta get going to the library! :]
